Hello Wolves! As the Winterpock Elementary School principal, I am honored to lead such an amazing school and staff. Winterpock maintains high expectations for students and staff, and we work together daily to hold ourselves accountable to a high standard of excellence.
In the 2021-22 school year, I became the principal of Winterpock Elementary School after serving in Fairfax County Public Schools for over nineteen years in various positions to include assistant principal, instructional coach, special education teacher, and instructional assistant. For four years, I was the assistant principal at Shrevewood Elementary School. I earned my BBA from Howard University and my MEd from George Mason University. Through my learning experiences at UVA, I acquired my Administration & Supervision certification. I have facilitated learning and implemented the Reading and Math Workshop models across Fairfax County Public Schools. I have experience in supporting, promoting, and enhancing multiple programs: such as Center Based Gifted and Special Education. In my previous experience, I have worked to infuse gifted curriculum in all classrooms, which led to increased learning for all students.
I am a New Jersey native with strong Virginia roots. I love football and enjoy a good “Friday Night Lights.” My husband is a Chesterfield native and we enjoy spending time with our families and traveling. On a Saturday morning, you may spot me at a farmers’ market or volunteering in the community.
As the principal of Winterpock, I am here to celebrate our accomplishments and achievements with our families and staff. We work in partnership to successfully support our Wolfpack. My door is always open as communication is encouraged. Please feel free to email me at tylea_owens@ccpsnet.net or call me at 804-763-5051.
