Tylea Owens, Principal

Hello Wolves! As the Winterpock Elementary School principal, I am honored to lead such an amazing school and staff. Winterpock maintains high expectations for students and staff, and we will work together to hold ourselves accountable to a high standard of excellence.

I became the principal of Winterpock Elementary School after serving in Fairfax County Public Schools for over nineteen years in various positions to include assistant principal, instructional coach, special education teacher, and instructional assistant.  For four years, I was the assistant principal at Shrevewood Elementary School. I earned my BBA from Howard University and my MEd from George Mason University. Through my learning experiences at UVA, I acquired my Administration & Supervision certification. I have facilitated learning and implemented the Reading and Math Workshop models across Fairfax County Public Schools. I have experience in supporting, promoting, and enhancing multiple programs: such as Center Based Gifted and Special Education. In my previous experience, I have worked to infuse gifted curriculum in all classrooms, which led to increased learning for all students.

I am a New Jersey native with strong Virginia roots. I love football and enjoy a good “Friday Night Lights.” My husband is a Chesterfield native and we enjoy spending time with our families and traveling. On a Saturday morning, you may spot me at a farmers’ market or volunteering in the community.

As the principal of Winterpock, I am here to celebrate our accomplishments and achievements with our families and staff. We will work in partnership to successfully support our Wolfpack. My door is always open as communication is encouraged. Please feel free to email me at tylea_owens@ccpsnet.net or call me on (804)763-5051.

Jennifer Malcolm, Assistant Principal

Hi Wolfpack! I am so thankful that I am able to continue to be a part of the administrative team as the assistant principal here at Winterpock. Prior to being in an administrative position, I taught at Winterpock in both 5th grade CBG and 4th grade. I also taught 4th and 5th grade in Richmond City and Chesterfield County for 10 years before staying home with my girls for seven years. I am originally from Long Island, NY and earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Buffalo State College. After teaching for several years, I earned my Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision from VCU.

I’ve been married to my husband, Wayne, for 20 years. My identical twin daughters, Alyssa and Amanda, are heading off to college. Most of our free time is spent volunteering at the many after-school activities our daughters are involved in. I do carve out time every day to read though. There is nothing better than getting caught up in a good book! I also love Disney and it’s my family’s number one vacation spot.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me at jennifer_malcolm@ccpsnet.net or 763-5051 if there is anything I can help with. I am really looking forward to working with the students, staff and families of Winterpock again. It’s going to be a great year!
